All athletes with a disability are welcome to register and play for the Maddog Memorial. A team is not required to participate, the organizers will make teams of individual athletes who want to celebrate Hal's legacy and play in the inaugural Maddog Memorial.

This is the first inaugural Maddog Memorial Tournament. This tournament is in honour of the late Hal Merrill, a three-time Paralympian, a trailblazer in parasport, and an amazing mentor to so many in the disability community. Hal was a pioneer for wheelchair rugby in Atlantic Canada and was the best teammate, a fierce competitor, coach, and compassionate friend to everybody who played or volunteered. His legacy will live on not just in this competition, but in the lives he changed, the barriers he broke, and the inspiration he provided.
