Hal Merrill: A Pioneer of Wheelchair Rugby

Hal Maddog Merrill was a trailblazer in various parasports and in particular he made significant contributions in wheelchair rugby, para athletics and wheelchair basketball. As a humble three-time Paralympian, he dedicated his life to promoting the message of resilience and independence after a spinal cord injury. His advocacy emphasized how sports can serve as a vital platform for fostering community and shared experiences among individuals with disabilities.

Honouring Hal: The Maddog Logo

In recognition of Hal's impactful legacy, Parasport NB created a distinctive wheelchair rugby logo featuring a "maddog" biting a rugby ball. This logo was officially launched as the team prepared for the 2025 Wheelchair Rugby National Championships, symbolizing both Hal's spirit and the unity of the wheelchair rugby community.
