East Coast Wheelchair Basketball League off to great success

Moncton, NB – This past weekend, Parasport New Brunswick (NB) proudly hosted two East Coast Wheelchair Basketball events (Mini & Senior), highlighting the talent and enthusiasm of wheelchair basketball athletes across the Maritime provinces. 

The Senior League consists of 3 tournaments and throughout the season each team will play a total of 8 games.  Teams were carefully drafted from across the Maritime provinces, ensuring meaningful and quality matchups.  The East Coast Senior Wheelchair Basketball League Champion will be determined by total wins versus losses and will be decided at the final tournament March 22, 2025. 

On Saturday, the East Coast Senior Wheelchair Basketball League had 21 athletes, including two new athletes, for a dynamic competition. The games were closely contested, with thrilling action and sportsmanship displayed by all. 

The Mini/Jr League consists of 3 events that have training camps and competitions. Fifteen athletes participated in the training camp and league with many making a debut to competition. The training camp provided essential skills development, while the games that followed showcased the promising talent and energy of the Mini and Junior players.

Parasport NB extends sincere gratitude to Canadian Tire JumpStart, whose generous support made this event possible, as well as to the athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and families whose dedication and hard work ensured a successful and memorable weekend.

The next League tournaments will take place on January 11 & 12 at the Université de Moncton. We look forward to more high-quality competition and the continued growth of our league.
